Game Review
Real Madrid secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Elche in their La Liga clash on Saturday, 14 March 2026. The match, held at the Santiago Bernabéu, saw the home side dominate proceedings, reflecting their superior form and league position. Real Madrid entered the game as clear favorites, and they lived up to expectations with a comprehensive performance. The game began with Real Madrid asserting their dominance, and it was Antonio Rudiger (GAP +6.6%) who opened the scoring in the 39th minute with a well-taken goal. Just before halftime, Federico Valverde (GAP +7.3%) doubled the lead, giving Real Madrid a comfortable cushion going into the break. In the second half, Real Madrid continued to control the game, and Dean Huijsen (GAP +5.2%) added a third goal in the 66th minute, effectively sealing the victory. Elche managed to pull one back through Manuel Ángel in the 85th minute, but any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Arda Güler scored Real Madrid's fourth goal in the 89th minute. Tactically, Real Madrid's midfield, led by Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni (GAP +5.0%), was instrumental in controlling the tempo and breaking down Elche's defenses. The defensive solidity provided by Thibaut Courtois (GAP +6.7%) and Rudiger ensured that Elche's attacking threats were largely neutralized. Both teams made several changes to their lineups. Real Madrid's manager opted for a fresh approach, bringing in Diego Aguado, Arda Güler, Manuel Ángel, Gonzalo García, Daniel Yáñez, and César Palacios as substitutes. Elche also rotated their squad, introducing Pedro Bigas, Josan, Rafa Mir, Marc Aguado, Grady Diangana, and Adrià Pedrosa during the match. This victory solidifies Real Madrid's position at the top of the La Liga table, maintaining their momentum as they chase the title. For Elche, the defeat leaves them struggling in the lower half of the table, needing to regroup and find form in the upcoming fixtures.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
